About the centre

A growing body of research and evidence clearly shows that outdoor education can stimulate and inspire, foster independence, promote personal and social development, and can often motivate reluctant learners.

At Plas Dol-y-Moch our aim is to provide high quality education through the medium of the outdoors in a residential setting.  We strongly believe that children and young people deserve the opportunity to experience the outdoor environment as an integral part of their learning and development, complementing learning in the classroom.  We also believe that living and working in a small residential community helps young people to develop our shared values of:

Respect - Responsibility - Resilience

These experiences should be stimulating, safely managed and enjoyable, and contribute to meeting the needs of every young person.

We work closely with schools to design programmes to meet the specific requirements of every group. Our approach to learning is child centred and progressive and we aim to create a supportive environment where children are encouraged to take part without fear of failure or ridicule.

A course at the centre is fun but definitely not a holiday. It is a rich and varied learning experience providing the opportunity to bring learning alive and imbue it with real meaning whilst enabling students and visiting staff to exercise all their ‘learning muscles’.
